Special events overview
Dudley and District Amateur Radio Society hold a number of special events throughout the year, both at The Windmill and away from the club at public and private venues.
There is normally a small group of members who attend these events and others join them when they can. Any and all help at a special event is welcome. You don't have to be good at the mic if you prefer to set up and dismantle the station. To this end several members now have their 'own roles', which range from rigging, operating, catering, entertaining and generally being around to help.
A great deal of hard work and paperwork goes in to a special event, thus it would be good to see you there. Some good fun has been had at the recent events and given we are able to use the Windmill accommodation when we are there this only adds to a warm relaxed approach to special event stations. You are certain of a warm welcome, good banter and good catering should you stop overnight. You may also find we turn the radios on too from time to time ...
Please note that some events are held on private land which involves sensible access arrangements. To this end some events have planned access which must be put in place to conform with safety, security and insurance conditions.
